My Painting Beginnings
I can draw, however, I am not really an artist. Since high school, I study various aspects of drawing. Almost every day I would scribble something at the back of notebook and if there are plain papers, expect to see some drawings, be it just a simple pencil sketch or a colorful collage. Of course there are lots of students who like me love art and we have similar interest. It is also good to know there are people who are very much like what you like. We share some points and techniques. But it will just boil down to pure instinct and skill that you cannot simply transfer it or share it to another. If there are people with the same interest, competition will occur. But this is healthy competition, drawing contests. I have been competing with some of the students on different grade levels. Fortunately, I won on some of them.
Well, fast forward, before I graduated in high school, normally you will look for a college or university to pursue a college degree and one way or another, pursue your interest and dreams. And because I draw a lot, making house portraits is one type of painting that I really like because I am a frustrated architect. Unfortunately, wasn’t able to pass the admission tests of the university that I am dying to go into. Notwithstanding, it didn’t take long when the interest of painting a house, from the exterior to the interior sets in me. I normally paint a house or two whenever I have extra time and also paint in the weekends if I’m not traveling.
I tried going into oil painting hobby, but making oil portraits are really hard. You should be knowledgeable the combination of paints and of course, unlike pencil, you could not undo what you already did. What you can do is to put another layer of paint to cover or to edit your mistakes.
Today, because of technology, one can easily and instantly produce a picture that is like an artist’s painting. There are various photo programs that can easily make a photo to oil painting in seconds. All you have to do is to take a digital photo and with a click of the button, it can be rendered into any other types of painting, be it in watercolor, oil, pastel, crayons, pencil, any way you want it. People are lucky to have this technology that anyone can be a painter in minutes!
